National Serving Scheme
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a program that encourages students to participate in community service to develop their character and personality. The NSS was launched in 1969 by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The NSS’s motto is “NOT ME, BUT YOU” and its ideological orientation is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals. The NSS unit at St. Paul Institute of Professional Studies was established in 2011-12 with Dr. Lalita Sharma/Dr. Pragati Jain as its founder program officer.

Mission Statement
To instill the spirit of social responsibility among the students by engaging them into community service and nation-building activities. The NSS Committee aims to:
- Promote awareness and understanding of the social issues.
- Encourage active participation in the rural development, health and hygiene, education, environmental sustainability, and disaster relief.
- Develop leadership skills and a sense of civic duty among the volunteers.
- Create a bridge between academic learning and real-life social engagement.
Objectives
The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are:
- Understand the community in which they work.
- Understand themselves in relation to their community
- Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving.
- Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
- Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems.
- Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities.
- Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
- Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.
- Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and
- Practice national integration and social harmony.
